Art Festival pictures

The Art Festival was this past Fri & Sat. It was my first time showing my work in public. I had a nice response from the viewers. Mostly for my water photos.
It was a great feeling to see so many of my friends come out to the show. Thank you for coming to show your support, I really appreciate it :)

I also met some nice, new people as well.  Overall it was a good experience.

"Transition" painting

I took one of my most recent paintings to the art show this weekend before I even posted it to my website!  It is now uploaded & it can also be viewed on my website www.melissavlahos.com
I'm delving deeper into this technique and exploring the limits of my media.  For this painting instead of attaching my canvas to a particle board first, I worked on the canvas without attaching it to anything & keeping it on the drop cloth throughout.  The reason is because I'd like to create a very large painting in this technique, but because of the weight of the particle board while working & also for after when hanging I'm trying different methods.  The result is a preworked canvas stretched on canvas stretchers for hanging.  It worked wonderfully & solves those two issues with the weight.  Only difference is that it costs more to do the latter method :(

Quick thoughts whilst working on the painting:
Spring
Morning dew
Blooming
Awaken
Hot sun
Haze
Bright
TRANSITION
Comments welcome!  Let me know what you think.

Spring Into Summer Art Show

Frantically preparing for the art show tomorrow.  No, I'm not a total procrastinator because I have been getting ready for the show, but so many things came up & a million decisions needed to be made ie. which photos, what sizes ect., that have left me running around trying to get everything done.  (That sounds like what procrastinators say!)
Anyways, gotta get back to it.  This is the first time I'll be publicly displaying my art work so I'm really excited about it.  I hope for a good response from the viewers and that this will only be the first in many more shows to come!

Photography session

First time shooting a maternity session today.  I'm usually only photographing nature so it was a great experience to shoot a different subject matter that I can position!  Her being pregnant too made the shoot interesting and enjoyable.  Of course she was shy at first, but it only took a little bit of time for her to warm up to the camera.  The feeling was soft and feminine and her husband even got in a few shots!  Thank you to my sweet, beautiful friend.  I feel priveledged that you chose me to photograph this unique and exciting moment in your lives!
